NYBEP in partnership with The York Merchant Adventurers invite young people from Scarborough, Selby and York Primary Schools to sign up for The Adventurers Challenge.
The Adventurers Challenge, funded by York Merchant Adventurers, is an annual challenge dedicated to encouraging entrepreneurship and growing enterprise skills in young people.
For the first time, The York Merchant Adventurers are reaching out to students aged 7-11 from Scarborough and Selby Primary Schools to invite them to submit their business ideas on creating and selling a product that celebrates Yorkshire. The best business ideas received from primary students will be provided with a non-returnable up to £100 start-up fund to bring their ideas to life and try to make a profit. The best ideas will be invited to attend a grand finale hosted by The York Merchant Adventurers in July with prizes awarded to the best idea, as well as most creative and profitable.
“This challenge is aimed at getting young people to think through business opportunities, encourage entrepreneurship and to get an understanding of what is required to get an idea off the ground,” says Sharon Maddison, Skills Development Advisor at NYBEP. “This opportunity is being provided by The York Merchant Adventurers will not only show many young people how exciting it is to work on an enterprise challenge, it will provide an opportunity for them to engage with employers and support available to take their idea further, develop key employability skills such as team work, problem solving, creativity and also to learn how enterprise can be used to deliver positive change.”
