Dale Power Solutions Apprentices Win at Scarborough Engineering Week

Dale Power Solutions apprentices were named “Best Apprentice 2017” at the Scarborough Engineering Week dinner on 11 October. The award was voted for by the 3500 young school children and students who attended Scarborough Engineering Week and was awarded to the Dale team, not one individual. The team was deemed to be the most informative and helpful at the event.

20 different apprentices from Dale attended the event, spending time talking to the young students, offering advice and talking about their apprenticeships. Apprentices from a wide range of disciplines including engineering, supply chain management, accounting, project management and health and safety took part in the three-day event.

Dale’s Business Support Manager, Mark Carter explains: “This is an important event for Scarborough, showing youngsters the opportunities available to them on their doorstep and how engineering has changed over the years. We spend a lot of time working with Women in Engineering and our female engineers are particularly inspiring to girls who perhaps haven’t considered a career in engineering.

The event is part of a larger programme where our apprentice ambassadors work with local schools and colleges to inform and inspire young people. Scarborough has been identified by the Government as one of 6 social mobility “coldspots” in the UK, where young people are struggling to reach their potential.  Dale has committed to be one of four local Cornerstone Employers, working with educators and careers professionals to help young people to see the opportunities that are available to them and give them the tools and confidence to aim high and achieve great things.”

Tim Wilkins, chief executive officer at Dale sums up: “The team has excelled; they always give 100% and this award is well deserved.”
