Creating ‘Successful Futures’ – Listening to the views of our young people

‘Successful Futures’ an interactive careers fair will take place during National Careers Week and National Apprenticeship Week on Wednesday 8th March 2017 at Coventry University Scarborough, funded through Scarborough Pledge; a commitment by the North Yorkshire County Council, schools and employers to work together to improve prospects for young people on the Coast.

Over 600 students aged 11-16 from Scarborough Secondary Schools will benefit from the opportunity to speak to employers, apprentices, training providers, Universities, and Colleges from Scarborough and further afield.  Confirmed supporters include: Nestlé, Flamingo Land, Dale Power Solutions, Yell.com, Stephen Joseph Theatre, Barclays Bank, Pinkney Grunwells, Derwent Training, Askham Bryan College, University of Hull, Teesside University and many more.

The event was created as a result of student voice.  NYBEP, through student focus groups and surveys asked the young people of Scarborough what they would find helpful to inform and enthuse them about local employment and training opportunities; young people have informed the format and content of the Fair.
